Eldora Mountain Resort

Eldora Mountain Resort is Colorado’s favorite local mountain. It’s the closest ski resort to Boulder, at just about a forty-minute drive. It offers a variety of slopes and trails, four terrain parks, a ski school, rental shop, a café, tap house and bar. It has almost 700 skiable acres, a top elevation of 10,600 feet and 100% snowmaking coverage on its groomed terrain. You’ll find double-black diamonds, glades with steeps, cliffs, gullies and more to keep even the most experienced skiers excited.  Other activities available at the resort include snowshoeing, sledding, and ice skating.

Loveland Ski Area

Dillon, CO

Quieter and less crowded than other Colorado ski resorts, Loveland Ski Area sits high atop the Continental Divide. It has two separate base areas, both offering ski rental, shops, restaurants and bars. It features 9 lifts, nearly 100 different runs, snowcat skiing and 1,800 acres of exceptional terrain. Its high base elevation of 10,800 feet and summit elevation of 13,010 feet means it gets more snow than any nearby resort and a longer season. Colorado’s true winter wonderland, it’s just 53 miles west of Denver and a little less than an hour’s drive from Boulder.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

Dillon, CO

An extremely popular Boulder area ski resort, Arapahoe Basin is known for its steep and challenging terrain. It has a beautiful setting, situated in the White River Natioal Forest with views of the Continental Divide. It is one of the largest ski resorts in the USA, with nearly 1,300 acres of skiable terrain and 130 different slopes. A-Basin, as its commonly called, is also home to some of the highest elevation in North America and two enormous terrain parks. They intentionally limit crowds to give their skiers a legendary and safe experience and have an extremely long ski season that can run into June and even July.

Breckenridge Ski Resort

Breckenridge, CO

Breckenridge is one of the most popular ski resorts in the US. It boasts nearly 3,000 acres of terrain across five different peaks, 187 trails ranging from easy to double black diamonds and three terrain parks. It has a peak elevation of 12,900 feet and a base elevation of 9,600. It’s about an hour and a half from Boulder, but you’ll find closer dining and lodging in Breckenridge.

A little less than 2 hours from Boulder, Winter Park Resort is the final ski destination on our list.  Here you’ll find 3,000 acres of award-winning terrain, 166 trails, two distinct mountains, 23 lifts, off-piste terrain and glade skiing.
