With epic expert terrain, Jackson Hole is a playground for advanced skiers and snowboarders. The world-class resort is a destination ski resort for families, college students and legendary athletes. Although the resort has a little something for everyone, the terrain skews high-intermediate to expert with thrilling steeps, trees and chutes. The mountain boasts 13 lifts, including Bridger Gondola and the world-famous Aerial Tram “Big Red.” There are over 130 named trails, with 2,500 acres of in-bound terrain and an exhilarating 4,139-foot vertical drop. Teton Village at the base of the mountain offers an exciting nightlife and slope-side accommodations. More options are 25 minutes away in the town of Jackson.

Grand Targhee Resort

Alta, WY

With spectacular Teton Mountain views and pristine snow, Grad Targhee provides open faces and a more intimate ski experience than larger resorts. Bordering Idaho on the backside of the Teton Range, the resort boasts 2,602 acres with 17 miles of lift-serviced downhill trails, a 2,270 foot vertical drop with a base elevation of 7,851 feet and annual snowfall average above 500 inches. The resort is also home to Wyoming’s only cat skiing. The family-friendly base village offers a few options for lodging and dining.

Snow King Resort

Jackson, Wyoming

The first ski area in Wyoming, Jackson’s original ski hill opened in 1936. It overlooks the charming town of Jackson and offers a small-scale resort-like atmosphere. It boasts short but challenging runs, night-skiing and a tubing park with 32 runs and three terrain parks on its 400 acres of skiable terrain. The advanced steep groomers and trees are separated from the beginner and intermediate trails, giving learners more space to practice. Jackson town square is a short 10-minute walk offering easy access to restaurants, bars and shopping.

Hogadon Basin Ski Area

Casper, WY

This small Wyoming ski area serves up steep terrain and excellent snowmaking for early-season skiing. Located 11 miles south of Casper, Wyoming on Casper Mountain, it features 28 trials, a terrain park and a steep 600-foot vertical rise. Most runs are for expert and intermediate skiers. With only 20% marked for beginners, less skilled skiers will have more limited options. Hogadon is also the only other ski resort in Wyoming to offer night skiing.

Sleeping Giant Ski Area

Cody, WY

Sleeping Giant Ski Area is Nestled in the Absaroka Mountains near the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park with the Shoshone River running right through it. The ski area offers 184 acres of skiable terrain and a 6,619-foot vertical drop. The resort’s 49 runs and two terrain parks are serviced by three chair lifts. It’s considered Wyoming’s most affordable ski area and great for family skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. They also offer ski and snowboard lessons, rentals, repairs, a cafeteria and bar.
