Dodge Ridge is the closest resort to San Francisco at 163 miles. The resort has been family owned since 1976. It offers excellent terrain for all levels, with 20% beginner, 40% intermediate and 40% advanced. You’ll enjoy pro ski lessons, uncrowded slopes and lots of dining and lodging options. It has 862 acres of skiable terrain, 71 runs, 10 lifts, and an 8,200 ft summit with a 1,600 vertical drop.

Sugar Bowl Ski Resort

Sugar Bowl is among the best of the Tahoe area ski resorts near San Francisco. Perched on Donner Summit, it is loved for its accessibility, old-school ski atmosphere, smaller crowds and diverse terrain. The massive ski resort offers 1,500 acres of skiable terrain with 4 peaks, 103 trails and 500 inches of snow annually. It offers family friendly terrain as well as advanced trails with 30% of its 32 trails rated for beginner, 55% intermediate and 15% advanced.
