Wisp Resort

McHenry, MD

Wisp Resort is located in the Western Maryland Mountains about three hours from Baltimore. While it may be the only downhill ski resort in Maryland, with a 3,115-foot elevation and over 170 skiable acres it more than holds its own. Skiiers and snowboarders of all abilities will enjoy the resorts 33 trails, natural snowfall, three freestyle parks and inbound glades. The resort also offers tubing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing

Whitetail Mountain Resort

Mercersburg, PA

About an hour and a half from Baltimore, Whitetail is a popular destination for skiers from the Baltimore area. It offers 23 trails and a 935-foot vertical drop, with a top elevation of 1,800 feet. It has two terrain parks, snow tubing and an expanded lodge.

Roundtop Mountain Resort

Lewisberry, PA

A good choice for beginner skiers and snowboarders, Roundtop Mountain is an hour and 20 minutes’ drive from Baltimore. It has 16 trails and a terrain park and is known to have one of the best ski/snowboard schools. The resort usually gets plenty of snow, but just in case the whole mountain is covered by snowmaking equipment. Roundtop is also a part of the Vail Resorts network.

Blue Knob All Seasons Resort

Claysburg, PA

Less than three hours from Baltimore, Blue Knob is the highest skiable mountain in Pennsylvania’s scenic Allegheny range. The ski resort has 34 trails, a 1,072-foot vertical drop, plenty of long rides and advanced glade trails. The resort also has a ski school and snow tubing.

Timberline Four Seasons

Davis, WV

Of all the ski resorts in the South, Timberline has the highest altitude at over 4,000 feet. There’s usually no shortage of snow with an average snowfall of over 200 feet. Timberline has over 37 trails, 100 skiable acres and a vertical drop of over 1,000 feet. The resort also has the longest ski run in the South and two double black diamond runs.
