Bolton Valley Resort

Bolton, VT

Less than 30 minutes from Montpelier, is Bolton Valley Resort. This classic New England ski resort features stunning sunset views of Lake Champlain. It averages over 300” of snow each year, offers 6 lifts, 71 trails and boasts the highest base elevation in the Northeast at 2100 feet. In addition to excellent skiing, you’ll find alpine riding, night skiing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing and split boarding.

Sugarbush Resort

Warren, VT

With two mountains, six peaks, 72 trails and four terrain parks, Sugarbush Resort has some of the best skiing and riding in the east. It’s 40 minutes from Montpelier and one of the biggest ski resorts in New England. You’ll find base lodges, onsite dining, kids programing, retail and rental shops, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, a great variety of trails and great snowmaking.

Mad River Glen

Waitsfield, VT

Mad River Glen is a co-op owned, non-commercial, family-friendly ski resort that’s famous for legendary, expert terrain, picturesque trails and its Single Chair lift. The unique trail system uses the natural contours of General Stark Mountain and averages 250 inches of natural snow each year. It’s just 40 minutes from Montpelier. You won’t find any man-made snow or snowboarders, but you will find some of the best wood skiing in Vermont and the most challenging and diverse terrain in New England.

Smugglers Notch Resort

Jeffersonville, VT

Smugglers Notch, or Smuggs as its known by the locals, has over 1,000 acres of skiable terrain that spans across three interconnected mountains. A self-contained Resort Village, Smuggs offers everything from groomed cruisers and gentle slopes to bump runs, steeps and wooded glades. The resort boasts the biggest vertical rise in the East at 2,610 feet. It’s about 45 minutes from Montpelier and has 78 trails, terrain parks and race courses.
